JR Hokkaido Otaru Station

The JR Hokkaido Otaru Station building, designated as an important cultural property in Japan, has introduced LED lighting to replace conventional lamps.
Traditionally equipped with incandescent lamps, the lanterns now incorporate LED filament light bulbs. They reproduce a spread of light equivalent to those of traditional incandescent lamps as well as the same impression as that from conventional lamps. Without affecting the historic building’s nostalgic atmosphere, the station has achieved a switchover to LEDs to enjoy benefits such as reduced power consumption and extended service life.
